Thank you. This is beautiful. I’m someone navigating a stage IV cancer diagnosis. So much spoke to my experience (and what I’m also writing about) and two lines jumped out in particular to where I am right now - how casually we navigate the sacred in hospital, and how can we be kind if we’re not awake? Sending you warmest wishes.

Eric, thank you for writing this. Your story resonated with me on a profound level. 11 years ago this month, I went through a sudden cardiac arrest while jogging in a park. I was brought back after 10 minutes by the combined efforts of bystanders who learned and administered CPR from a 911 operator on the cell phone and the ultimate arrival of EMTs with a defib. The doctors at the hospital had similar very grim prognoses for my survival and neurological function. To read your perspective on how a near-death experience changes one's view of consciousness is powerful. It’s a perspective few of us get to share, and you articulated it beautifully
