A comment on the article -- why does everything about us need to satisfy some evolutionary need? Why can't frisson be a side-effect of something else, and not necessary on it's own? Perhaps it's some odd effect that isn't necessary itself, but derives from things which are, like pareidolia, attractiveness, and identifying safe places. We don't need it, but it's brought about by the things we do need.

That said, there are two Rush songs that consistently give me chills.

"Countdown", the last song on the "Signals" album, is about the first launch of the Space Shuttle Columbia, and incorporates audio from that launch. It never ceases to amaze me what the human species is capable of at our best. To be fair, most of that album speaks to me, but "Countdown" always gives me chills...

The second is "Available Light", the last song on the "Presto". It's about wanting to see and experience the world, and life, in all it's glory and pain and magnificence and sheer terrible enormity, it whatever light is possible. It's introspective and speaks to my desire to see it all as it is, and lamenting that I cannot live long enough to do even a fraction of it.

There are many, but "Suite - Judy Blue Eyes" always does it for me as does "What a Wonderful World" by Satchmo
