Interesting contrast with Otrovert piece. There seems to be a lot of hopping on the bandwagon stuff these days about something wrong with being alone, akin to Brooks' Weave project. Could it be healthy to remove oneself from the noise and conformist pressures of society? There's a body of evolutionary theory that suggests a great tension between individuality and belonging (with the conformist-herd thinking that comes with it).
If your genes want to propagate they are going to have to make a human that stands a good chance of getting laid. Nonconformist thinkers don't have a good batting average here. You improve the odds of meeting a prospective mate by being socially active.
This hit close to home. The ‘didn’t even notice it had been a month’ part really says a lot about how subtly disconnection creeps in. Digital contact isn’t the same as real presence—and I’m starting to feel the cost. Thanks for the honest reflection. 🎸📵👥
Do you remember the 80’s generation…? They're in their 40’s now. They grew up believing in friends all over the world, as they played interactive videogames with teams from other countries. And they had one continuous epic party with their friends in daily life.

Probably the nasty but oh so fashionable habit “of ghosting” has quite a bit to do with this as well
